Upcoming Seminar!

Once again, The Wudang Internal Martial Arts Academy is proud to present their upcoming annual joint-seminar with Sifu Julio R. Ferrer and his Integrative Wing Chun Original Martial Arts School. This is the 2nd Annual Joint-Seminar between the two schools. Last year over thirty students were in attendance and were very happy with the teaching.

This year, the contents of the seminar will focus on basic form, applications, and internal training. Sifu Julio Ferrer will teach movement repertoire, applications and techniques inherent to his system. Master Chang will be teaching basic forms and applications from Xingyiquan, Baguazhang, and Taijiquan. Dr. Lu will be covering internal Qigong practices that are special to Wudang martial arts.

The seminar will start from 9:30 AM and will carry on all day with a break for lunch.

Below is a short biography of Sifu Julio R. Ferrer. For information on Master Chang, Wu Na and Dr. Lu, Mei-Hui, please refer to the History and Lineage section.

Sifu Julio R. Ferrer is a high level martial artist with over 35 years experience in the field of martial arts. From a young age, he studied and practiced with many local martial artists in informal settings. Sifu Julio began his formal martial arts training in 1971 with Master Gin Foon Mark in Kwong Sai Jook Lum. In the winter of 1972, Sifu Julio met Grandmaster Chung Kwok Chow and decided to study Wing Chun Kung Fu as a martial art for life. After practicing Wing Chun Kung Fu for more than 20 years, he became the senior-most pupil of Grandmaster Chow. In 1987, he was certified by Grandmaster Chow to teach and share his knowledge with others. In 1988, Sifu Julio moved to Seattle where he opened his current school.

Sifu Julio Ferrer is a master of fighting in small areas. A veteran of many street fights, Sifu Julio knows exactly how to apply his art in a realistic and effective way. He is a master of hand and wrist techniques and has reached a very high level in Wing Chun Sticky Hands.

Besides being a highly gifted martial artist, he is also extremely cultured. Being of Puerto Rican heritage, Sifu Julio was trained from a young age in traditional Puerto Rican Shamanistic practices by his father, a high-level community leader.

Sifu Julio has also had training as a personal counselor. He combines his unique traits to enrich students' training in a safe and fulfilling environment.

In the spirit and philosophy of his style of martial arts (Integrative Wing Chun), Sifu Julio Ferrer has and remains open to learning and sharing knowledge with others. Sifu Julio Ferrer is honored to have trained with Guru Besar Jim Ingram(Pencak Silat), Grandmaster Ernesto Presas(Modern Arnis), Mestres Marcos Barrio, Loremil Machado, Elisio Pitta(Capoeira), and Master Liang, Shou-Yu and Dr. Yang, Jwing-Ming(Chin Na).
