Dr. Lu, Mei-Hui is co-founder of the International Wudang Internal Martial Arts Academy along with Master Chang, and is one its chief instructors. She was born in Taiwan and from an early age had a close association with Chinese Martial Arts.

Dr. Lu comes from a long line of martial artists and healers. Her father was a martial artist and ex-bodyguard who taught her and her brothers gong fu. Together they practiced Kuen Tao, traditional wrestling, and weapons. From an early age, Dr. Lu was witness to many fights. She learned first hand the necessity of practical techniques.

The Martial Arts were just one part of her traditional upbringing. She was also trained in traditional Chinese music with exposure to Southern Chinese Opera, and traditional Chinese painting.

As Dr. Lu's skill in martial arts was honed by her father, so were her skills in artwork were honed by her mother, who had advanced skills in painting and embroidery. Dr. Lu continued her higher studies of Chinese Painting with the master Yu, Zhi-Zhen in the "Bird and Flower" style of painting. In this style, she had great success.

In 2000, Dr. Lu published an anthology of her work in Taiwan. It was a top seller.

Along with her training in Martial Arts and Painting, Dr. Lu also has had a deep exposure to Traditional Chinese Medicine. Her father taught her starting from a young age. Also Dr. Lu was exposed to traditional healing by her great aunt who was a martial artist and bonesetter and physician to Chiang Kai-Shek's troops.

Dr. Lu studied Acupuncture, Tui Na, and Herbs at Bastyr University. She has also studied qi healing with a master in the system from Beijing.

Dr. Lu began her training of internal martial arts with Li Style Taijiquan and push hands.

Later she began training in Wudang Free-Step Taijiquan with Grandmaster Qian, Timing and eventually became his inner-door disciple. With Master Qian, she learned Nei Dan Taiji, Free-Step Taiji, and Wudang Continuous-Stepping Sword among others. Her favorite weapon however, is the long staff, for which she has won many awards.

While traveling in Tianjin, Dr. Lu, along with Master Chang, Wu Na, met Grandmaster Ma Jie. After seeing Dr. Lu and Master Chang demonstrate, Grandmaster Ma was so impressed that he took them both on as students. Later, after proving themselves to him, Dr. Lu and Master Chang were both taken as closed-door disciples.

From Grandmaster Ma, Dr. Lu has learned traditional Wudang Sword, Traditional Wudang Taiji, and Han Pai Xingyiquan.

Dr. Lu, Mei-Hui has great expertise in the field of Qigong. She has trained in Wudang Qigong from her masters, Grandmaster Ma Jie and Grandmaster Qian, Timing. Besides this training, she has done extensive research and learned from various masters the arts of Medical Qigong, Martial Arts Qigong, Taoist Qigong, Buddhist Qigong, and Qigong to aid in wisdom.

Dr. Lu has trained with Wang, Bao-Ren; Yang, Jun; and Gam, Tong in Taiji Push Hands.

Dr. Lu has also met with various masters to discuss different concepts, theories and properties of martial arts. Among them are Chen, Xiao-Wang; Wang, Yu; Li, De-Yin; William C.C. Chen; Pang, Tzu-Yao; Chow, Kwok-Chung; Julio R. Ferrer; and Guru Besar Jim Ingram.

In 2002, Dr. Lu achieved her doctorate degree in Education from the University of Washington with top honors.

Also in 2002, Dr. Lu co-founded the International Wudang Internal Martial Arts Association with Grandmaster Qian, Timing and Master Chang, Wu Na.

In 2005, Dr. Lu won a gold medal and a silver medal and was awarded a ceremonial sword and staff as trophies at the Traditional Kung Fu Invitational held in Vancouver, Canada. Also in 2005, Dr. Lu won first and second place trophies for her performance of Wudang Free-Step Taijiquan and Wudang Taiji Long Staff at the West Coast National Martial Arts Championship held in Southern California.

In 2006, Dr. Lu, Mei-Hui won four gold medals at the 2nd Annual Southern California Chinese Martial Arts Tournament.

Also in 2006, Dr. Lu won two gold medals and one silver medal at the 8th Annual International Chinese Martial Arts Competition held in Orlando, Florida in which 13 countries participated, including China and Taiwan.
